Some recent media reports have suggested an improvement in domestic tourism. The claim that bookings are up is a direct contrast to our survey findings a few months ago. We therefore took the decision to issue a new ‘snap survey’ to find out if the outlook had changed.
Our findings from canvassing the opinions of those involved in running businesses, working at the heart of the sector in the region, indicate that conditions still remain difficult: The majority of hotels and holiday accommodation in the region are still experiencing a low number of bookings compared to previous years.
